Herring Gull Y69 at the start of 2nd plumage cycle
Gull: Y69 Date photographed: 6/12/2013 Age: About 1 year

At 1 year old, give or take a couple of weeks, this gull should be at the beginning of its second plumage cycle. Note that the scaly appearance of the fledgling bird is completely gone, replaced by a 'muddy' appearance with no clearly defined pattern. The bill is pink with a black tip.
